Thebacha & Wood Buffalo Astronomical Society (TAWBAS) invites you to explore the wonders of our spectacular night sky and the universe right here in Northern Canada.

Whether you’re a seasoned stargazer, a casual sky-watcher, or simply curious about what lies beyond, TAWBAS offers a welcoming space for all levels of interest and experience.

Our region is home to some of the darkest and most spectacular skies in the world - perfect for observing planets, constellations, meteor showers, and the northern lights. As a member, you’ll have opportunities to participate in guided observing nights, educational workshops, guest speaker events, and community outreach activities.

Joining TAWBAS means becoming part of a passionate community that shares knowledge, equipment, and a deep appreciation for the cosmos. You do not need your own telescope - just bring curiosity.

Membership

Membership to Thebacha and Wood Buffalo Astronomical Society is open to anyone.

Membership is annual and fees are due on or around January 1st of each calendar year.

2026 Membership Fees (annual):

    - Individual membership:      $ 25.00
      (persons over 18 yrs old)
    - Youth membership*:           $  0.00
      (persons under 18 years old)
    - Corporate membership:   $ 100.00
      (business, organization, groups)

*Youth membership application must be signed by a parent or legal guardian and must normally reside in your household.
